Prayer at Lyndon
I am pleased to say that my link church is Lyndon and so I met with Julia to discuss what I could do to help broaden my experience and benefit the church. My particular focus is mission.
One of the things Julia asked me to do was to take responsibility for the prayer table at the back of church. As the church is often locked during the week I wanted to explore ways of developing the prayer table so that it might benefit those users of our premises who never enter the church.
Having sought the approval of the Stewards and the Coordinating team, it was agreed that I should use one of the notice boards in the corridor as a prayer board.
I shall change the board and the prayer table about every 4-6 weeks and I would be grateful of any feedback which people might like to give. I shall also report in the newsletter about the content.
My hope is that at least some of you will find either the prayer table or the prayer board helpful in your personal devotions.
Please pray for this new venture, that particularly those who gather in our corridors might be touched by the presence of God.
Our prayer focus for November was remembrance.
I include here some of the words used:-
It is good to take time to remember;
to remember those we have known and loved and who are no longer with us;
to remember those who gave their lives for our sake.
We remember with thankful hearts those who have touched our lives.
If remembering is painful, this prayer is for you.
God to enfold you, Christ to uphold you,
Spirit to keep you in heaven’s sight;
So may God grace you, heal and embrace you,
Lead you through darkness into the light.

Look out for the Advent themes on the prayer board and table in the run up to Christmas.
