Annual Church Meeting Minutes 2009
1. Welcome and DevotionsRev Julia welcomed everyone to the Annual Church Meeting
Rev Julia spoke of the hymn ‘Onward Christian Soldiers’ as it had been sung during the service. She then highlighted the Beginning of the Gospel reading for today. “Sir, I want to see Jesus?” (John 12: 21). She saw Jesus when she looked at members of Lyndon.
2. Attendance and Apologies
There were 44 people in attendance including members representing Nursery

3. Receipt of Reports
Written reports were received from Senior steward, Rev Julia Monaghan, Youth and Children’s Worker, Jesus Crew, Bible Study and outreach communion, Links to Lyndon School, Music Worship Group, REACH, Lunch Club, Women’s Fellowship, Girls Brigade, Boys Brigade, Lyndon Nursery, Treasurer and Property Steward. The booklet had been given out prior to the meeting.
Millie apologised for not reporting on the League of Light boxes and she expressed her thanks to everyone who had supported the scheme and also thanked Marion for her help.
4. Election of members to Church Council
Ian gave a power point presentation, demonstrating who are currently standing on Church Council and vacancies, ballot papers were handed round for members to vote.
The current congregational representatives are elected to continue for another year with the exception of Martin and Bernie Davies, and Janice Hart, who have stood down. Roy Foster was newly elected as a congregational representative. Allan Hart is to step down as Senior Communion Steward in April 2009.
Judith Rowe will be co-opted onto Council as Lyndon’s publicity officer and web administrator and Chris Rowe will be co-opted as the safeguarding officer.
5. Election of Church Stewards
Eric & Dorothy Thompson, Chris & Judith Rowe and Roy Foster are retiring from their stewarding duties.
Ermine Mitchell and Graham Leek were proposed and accepted as Church Stewards. All other stewards to continue for another year.
6. Election of Church representatives to Circuit Meeting
At present Lyndon is represented by Ian Hancock, Bob Spiller, Libby Stretton, Roy Foster, Lynette Edge, Marion Pontin and Millie Skinner.
Bob, Libby, Lynette and Millie to continue. There are 3 vacancies. Richard Stretton, Ian Hancock and Marion Pontin were proposed and accepted.
7. Recognition of service to the Church
Thanks went to the retiring stewards, Eric & Dorothy Thompson, Chris & Judith Rowe and Roy Foster for their work and commitment. Gifts were presented.
8. Looking ahead to our 50th Anniversary Celebrations
Judith spoke to the meeting and updated members about the Anniversary weekend 25th/26th April 09, 2 ministers have replied about their attendance, and a photograph has been taken by the Solihull Times which will be published hopefully Easter weekend. Items with the 50th Anniversary logo will also be available.
Bill Anderson, Chair of District will be joining Lyndon on Sunday 26th April 09 but is unable to attend on the Saturday.
9. Any Other Business
Ian stated that all current members and stewards are to continue their service after having briefly looked through the ballot papers, this will be confirmed in the notices.
Boys/Girls Brigade display at Lyndon School on Friday evening was wonderful. Thanks went to all the leaders and assistants for their continued support, time and hard work given to the young people.
Hugh Barstow spoke to the meeting and expressed his thanks to Ian Hancock for all his work to the church, even that behind the scenes work, also to Julia for all the work she does. Jeremy Wassall also thanked Julia and Sam for the support they have to given to BB and GB.
The refurbished toilets were blessed and a ribbon cut.
Meeting closed at 1305hr with the Grace.
