Student Links: Sharing in Their Joy!
At last after all the pray, preparation and planning, our students from Queens have heard where they will be stationed in September. Cliff, Christine and Divine will be staying nearby in the Birmingham Circuit. Cliff has been stationed at Sutton Coldfield being given pastoral responsibility for 2 churches. The first is at Streetly with 107 members and the second at Blackwood with 70 members. This is good news for the family who will be able to keep in contact with friends and support already made in the area and will enable Christine to finish her college course. My cousin is also a Methodist minister in this Circuit so the Monaghan links will continue!Karen Bell is off to London being stationed in the Purley Circuit. She will have responsibility for 2 churches, Hurst Green and Whitethorn Avenue. Both are small churches but with huge potential so we look forward to hearing about them grow. No pressure there then Karen! The location means that Karen will be near her parents and old friends, all of which blesses her.
Karen Hilsden’s appointment to the Manchester Circuit presents as more varied. She will have oversight of 2 small churches that of West End and Hurst Methodist and then shared oversight of a larger church with the Superintendent. She will also oversee ministry and outreach to young people in the Circuit seeking to develop her own Breakfast Church. She says that she is very excited about this role and looks forward to visiting the Circuit soon.
Please continue to pray for them as they make their first contact arranging that all important introductory visit. Positive first impressions on both sides can really facilitate the bonding process. All will remain worshipping and serving with us until the middle of July 2010.
